Dear Mendota Unified Family,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. As we begin this new school year, I wish everyone a wonderful year filled with happiness and success. We are truly blessed to work in a wonderful community where all children are provided exceptional educational opportunities and where putting kids first is truly a priority.

I want to thank all MUSD Staff for making Mendota Unified a great school district. The enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication that you provide for our students are unmatched. I also want to say a special thank you to all MUSD employees who worked tirelessly to ensure our facilities were ready for the start of another school year. Robert Gonzales and his staff have done an outstanding job.

This year concludes the modernization of Washington Elementary School. Washington students and staff will enjoy a great school year in a revitalized and beautiful school site. What an exciting time! Plans to renovate McCabe are well on their way and we are looking forward to yet another exciting opportunity to continue to improve our district.

Reflecting on the successes and challenges of this past school year made me realize that we are well on our way to reaching our district goals of  increasing student achievement, providing safe schools with many opportunities for involvement, and developing and growing a professional learning culture. Our students are being exposed to a variety of wonderful and challenging learning opportunities, which keep increasing year after year.  Additionally, we will continue to provide tailored professional learning opportunities to meet the needs our staff and to help further implement goals.

As I close, I thank you for your unwavering support. Please know that I am grateful to serve you, our students, and community. It’s going to be another great school year. Again, welcome back.

Sincerely,

Paul Lopez, Ed. D.
